Omos is a luxury country retreat and fine-dining destination located on the restored 4.2-acre Millbrook House estate, just outside Abbeyleix, Co. Laois.

The development includes a contemporary farmhouse-style restaurant and guesthouse. A private dining room overlooking the estate’s millpond forms part of the restaurant.

Scope

Crannog Roofing were contracted to construct the complete roof structures and finishes for both the restaurant and guesthouse.

The restaurant roof comprises an exposed Douglas fir timber structure with a high-performance warm roof build-up. It was finished with a copper standing seam roof and matching copper rainwater systems. As the timber structure remains visible internally, the carpentry required a particularly high standard of accuracy and finish.

The guesthouse roof was constructed using a custom timber structure and finished with Glendyne natural slate. The dormer windows were fully clad in lead, with detailed leadwork completed to the hips and ridges.

The completed works provide durable, weather-resistant roof systems that complement the architectural character of both buildings.
